You Cannot Grow Without Becoming Uncomfortable

If you are a parent and look at how much your children grow in the first few years of their lives, it's truly amazing. Children have the support of their parents through all of the growth spurts and milestones they experience. They have people in their circle who will hold their hand, teach them what needs to be taught and will give them a hug, and help them up when they fall. Parents are the biggest cheerleaders, coaches, and mentors that children have.

As we get older, expectations start to shift. You are now held accountable for your actions, and you get less cheering, hand-holding, and pick-me-ups. You are "expected" to do certain things, and when you have to learn something new or get into a new situation, you become afraid. But why is that? Why do we become afraid of failing? Why do become afraid to try new things?

It is really simple actually. As young adults, you are challenged in new ways most people are not conditioned for. And most young adults care more about what other people will think, rather than just following their hearts. At some point, your parents stop holding your hand and expect you to walk on your own. But do you end up finding a circle of support? Or are you just floating along hoping to figure it out on your own?

When you find a support team, a circle of individuals that will challenge you and bounce ideas around, or pick you up when you need it, but will also give you the harsh truth as well... you will not just float along in life. You will be more likely to step outside of your comfort zone and take the risk. Without this step, you become comfortable with wherever you are and with whatever you are doing. You need to get uncomfortable often to continue your growth. You will have growing pains. You will not be amazing at any new tasks, and that's okay! You will create a method, a system, and you will even network with more experienced members in your circle to learn and improve. It is only then that you will see growth personally and professionally. It doesn't happen by accident.

Do you feel like you are currently stagnant? Are you not growing both personally and professionally? If this is the case, I challenge you to get uncomfortable. To have those tough conversations. To start your own business. To create that live video. To make the moves in the direction that will scare you and head you down a path that will make you happy!

When you take ownership of growth, happiness, development, and your future, and stop leaving it to others to create for you; you will start down a whole different life journey that you did not think you could be on. This year, I have been working on myself. I have been working on my mission, and I have been working on the development of my business and helping others do the same. I have let go of all tasks and aspects that did not make me happy and brought me stress. This is easier said than done in a lot of cases, but when you recognize the difference between comfort, uncomfort, happiness, and quitting; you will become free to be who you have always meant to be.
