When hiring managers are interviewing, they want the conversation to go well so they can proceed to an offer. Our role is to get the best candidate in the role in the shortest timeframe possible, so we come to every interaction with hope and excitement that the next application could be our person. It’s normal to feel nervous going into conversations with recruiters and hiring managers, but keep in mind that if you are in the process, we are rooting for you to succeed.
Recruiting through a pandemic is very challenging for all parties involved. Flows of funnels are changing week-to-week and being able to adjust quickly is a must!
As a candidate, it can be very frustrating when companies do not reach back out to you and leave you hanging within the process, so as recruiters we strive to overcommunicate especially during these difficult times so that we do not let any candidate just slip through the cracks. Many candidates have been out of work due to the pandemic and or just picking up part-time work to get back into the workforce, and are put in a position where they become desperate. This makes it challenging when looking for the right position and opportunity to build a career that either you want to get into or back into after the massive layoffs of 2020.
As a recruiter, all we can do is be transparent about the positions we are looking to fill and be able to do it a quickly as possible. DO NOT just put ads up to not hire, and focus on qualifying candidates to get through the hiring process quickly.
